Anadarko’s Justin Hill – Cameron University Athlete Spotlight
Before Justin Hill graduated from Anadarko High School in 2020, he knew where he wanted to attend college. It was an easy choice for Hill and the athletic program was a perfect fit for the new college freshman.
“I attended high school academic camps at Cameron University when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school and I really liked the campus. It’s located close to my hometown and Cameron felt like home. Also, their running program seemed like a good fit for me,” said Hill.
With any transition from high school to college, there are always adjustments the students must make. Keeping their own schedule is a big one. Being responsible for the little things like laundry and food are new to some students. But this class is experiencing something no other has had to contend with at the start of a new year.
“Well because of COVID-19 the majority of my classes have been on zoom, so it’s pretty hard giving my full attention the whole time. That would be the biggest adjustment I’m going through,” said Hill.
The Sports and Exercise Science major is competing for the cross-country team at Cameron. The college level training has helped Hill improve his times and the way he prepares for a race.
“It’s a little more mileage than high school, but I’m learning a lot of valuable things about training that have helped me so much,” said Hill. “I think the biggest thing is that they love running as much as I do. It’s cool that our team is so diverse, so it’s never boring together.”
Hill brought a strong work ethic to Cameron University from Anadarko High School and he will continue to work hard to represent both schools.
