Bridge Creek’s Seth Barns – Character Counts Presented by Bank of Commerce
A two-way starter on the varsity football team at Bridge Creek High School, Seth Barns has developed into one of the top players in his class. The starting offensive and defensive tackle has worked his way into a team captain role and has overcome injuries to become an elite high school football player. Being a leader on the team helps define who Barns has become as a player.
“Being a leader is something I take pride in. I help everyone I can when it comes to plays and show them what to do. I am there for them when they need me, on and off the field I show them what to do and what not to do,” said Barns.
Playing for and living in the Bridge Creek community brings pride not only to Barns but his teammates as well. “I enjoy how everyone around the community comes together to watch and supports us in every sport,” said Barns.
Barns, who also competes as a powerlifter as well as in track, said he is making plans for his future which could include continuing his football career at the next level. “My plans after high school are to find somewhere I can play college football and get my degree in business where I can take over my dad’s business and help it grow,” said Barns.
The Bridge Creek standout credits the influence of family for his accomplishments. “My parents have to be my best role models,” he said. “I can always count on them pushing me to do my best, helping me with my schoolwork when I need the help and just being there when I need them.” Barns said getting his schoolwork done and keeping up his grades are very important to him. “Grades are the most important part of being an athlete. Making sure you’re getting your schoolwork done and doing the best you can is important because you’re a student first and school matters,” Barnes said.
